SPIRITUS DEFINITION OF A GHOUL A.K.A GHOULOLOGY 1.0.1

Now is time where I Spiritus (The Dark Prince) would like to give you all a breakdown of what I refer to as Ghoulology and what it means to be a Ghoul/Ghoulette. Now some have seen me use this word quite a few times in songs, poems, online, person and elsewhere and probably thought what does it mean. Well first if we look at the term Ghoul it basically means....

Ghoul: An evil spirit or phantom, especially one supposed to rob graves and feed on dead bodies. A person morbidly interested in death or disaster.

After that you may have some clue of where I am coming from in a sense (No I am not fond of robbing or promoting the robbing of graves, I tend to respect the dead.) The second part of the definition fits part of where I am truly coming from.

Spiritus definition of a Ghoul(Male)/Ghoulette(Female): A morbid being usually a subtype of Goth who is mostly living a Ghastly, horrid, outlandish, unconventional/undead, liberated life. More towards the Deathrock or Punk or even Victorian side of the spectrum and even more in your face attitude wise. We are more vocal, and speak up against certain injustices and we don’t care where we show up dressed because to Ghouls/Ghoulettes it’s not only a lifestyle but have sort of dark spiritual values as well. They would have to honor a Ghoul like they respect a Nun or a Muslim wearing a Hi-jab --same difference. Even when it comes to music it is usually mostly obscure than forms of alternative music. Not to mention Spiritus has created a genre of music that is called Ghoul Synth, with close ties to Gothic Rock/Post-Punk, Darkwave, Horrorsurf, Classical and Pagan Music. (I’ll speak more on that soon. Stay tuned Darklings and Creatures.) Mainly a Ghoul is an undead creature of the night who is closely connected with the macabre. They are mostly a Vampire or anything beyond human..etc

So instead of dark and beautiful, which a Ghoul could sometimes be defined, Think of Ghoulish or the Horror side of life which I am more fond of. A Ghoul lives not in fear of the public and humiliation of showing who they are, instead we are quick to remind you immediately with pride. Ghouls usually came from a rougher side of life, so while others are enjoying their lavishness, conforming to a American dream, or trying to keep up with the kardashins we are either out hanging out in cemeteries, among other Ghouls and Ghoulettes having a Ghoulish time sometimes causing a little ruckus against the uptight establishment , and being an American Nightmare. Not saying that Ghouls don’t suppose to strive for the best because by all means that is the purpose. However Ghouls show the world a big difference see the Gothic artist Spiritus (The Dark Prince) for example.

Similar like the ancient legends of monsters of madmen a true Ghoul like Spiritus is beyond human. Similar to the ancient Visi and Ostrogoths of the past, a true Ghoul is mentally barbaric (and don’t mind showing you physically if we have to, not just by looking but acting it out), the Goth look is a resemblance or reflection of the inside soul. Similar to the Aghori sect in India Ghouls perform certain rituals that will equate them with other shadow and dark spirits and we are what most people fear.

So that is mostly my definition of what a Ghoul is and why I refer to myself as one, not just a Black /Native American Trad Goth or Goth. I guess you could call me a Ghoulish Goth or Gothic Ghoul, even though to some the words Ghoul and Goth are basically the same thing, I just tend to put more emphasis on being a Ghoul . It’s more of a extreme form of Goth or Goth revamped that is-with a more spiritual or revolutionary approach. People usually get the wrong impression of me and think since I’m a Goth I suppose to fit in certain known categories of the subculture even though we are all different in our own way, this is my way and this is my path. I’m a proud weirdo that don’t mind standing his ground and paving the way for others to do so as well. I’m a GHOUL!

Black/Ethnic Alternatives and Goths

First I would like to say that this post doesn’t refer to Babybats/Newbie Goths who are trying to find there way. Nor does this refer to every Black/Ethnic and Alternative Goth who may like certain normal things. This post refers to those who are living a lie and truly not embracing what it means to be a Goth. In other words they like Goth things they seem Goth but they truly aren’t. They just hang somewhere on the edge being a darkling (which is ok) or even worst... a poseur (which is not). Of course there are different types and styles of Goths but some do not truly live a Goth life.

  It seems to me that a big portion of the ethnic alternative and Goth crowds are reminding me of the norms. It's apparent to them that it's all about the fashion and trying to model or make a sexual fetish out of it. They are even trying to blend it into mainstream hiphop nowadays which will only see it as nothing more than a fad and move on the next couple of years to something else. Example- One year everyone was so into being a rockstar or skateboarder then that faded out but before that the mainstream black community hated or disliked rock or different types of music altogether and they would make fun of someone who appears different. Now everyone wants to wear a skull on their shirt and get piercings..lol Well it's funny and sad at the same time. I really try my best not to judge but I've seen and witnessed a lot and when I see something phony I must call it out.  It's ok if people want to model and such but when the night comes make room for the real Goths and Children of the Night ok. Our world is vastly different from most because we are who we are and shouldn't be ashamed to show it to anyone. If an average person may not like us then it's their lost, we are not of their world-just don't let anyone disrespect your lifestyle or beliefs. Though if a mundane or average norm do like then you should be accepting to them as well as long as they respect-I will touch more on that very soon. 
    For as some of the Ethnic/Black Alternative and Goths I've noticed have added a cultural mix to the subculture and made it more interesting such as myself and some others haven't truly embraced the darkness or the strange and there is only a few that I've seen on facebook or other site that I could really relate too. It's sort of different when I come across other races of Goths because they are deeper into their lifestyle and added their cultural mix to the scene and living it as well. Even though there are some out of each race especially certain Black Alternative or Goths I've came across that seemed to be teeny boppers or attention seeking adults gossiping about nothing and stirring up drama with occasional R&B, neighborhood fight videos etc. Then you wonder why some true Goths see you in a certain way-  Excuse me but it's a reason why I'm known as The Dark Prince..Even though I say that I'm a Goth I am truly much more and I truly love what most call weird and dark. (Not bragging it's just how the way things are with me) Speaking of me Spiritus....Since I was a little young Ghoul or terror I was always into something strange or different whether it was music, tv, etc. No everything wasn't really Goth but it was different in some form or way. You should read my book The Undead, it's a dark spiritual journey and Gothic treasure. On another personal note I've hung around some who claimed to be Goth(some more were posers and didn't get past the first stage with me) and even though there were some more into their craft in some form some they wasn't necessarily my cup of tea. To say that I am eccentric is just a stone in front of a asteroid. We need to support our fellow Goths/Ethnic Goths and not just the ones who've already made it. People are such groupies hopping on mainstream stars and models promoting their stuff when they don't even acknowledge you as a person. Promote my album or book as an up an coming artist and I'm quick to tell a well known facebook model or etc..You look nice but purchase my album and check out my book. Crickets-----No People will meet me halfway. 
  Last but not least I am very proud to know and say that I am, was, and forever will be different in a world where others try there best to fit in the mold and follow the American Dream. Embrace The Darkness

     

        Open the gateway! Let them who are worthy pass, let them who seek the inner mysteries see into the deep dark infinite space of the abyss for their is power in darkness as well as in light. Mostly upon my journey I have came from the inner depths of Darkness to see the light to only see and enter the darkness again. You can take that however you wish whether it may be upon my arrival to this cruel Earth from Darkness, entering the light of life and then finally my physical body resting in Darkness-From The Cradle to The Grave. From my forefathers who came from the Dark Mother Continent or my other ancestors who are Native who had seemingly strange and somewhat dark beliefs to outsiders and where then forced to worship a religion that praises the light and then later returning or adapting their ancient practices.  Last but not least from arriving from the dark abyss only to see the light spiritually and returning and adapting Darkness once more. The first lesson taught on my website is Darkness is not equal to evil, Darkness is simply the unknown, the uncharted territory that most men and women fear and they are taught to fear and have their mind kept in cages thanks to mainstream religions (mainly Christianity and Mormonism) the media, and in the rest of society. Darkness is where strange and beautiful things happen and Darkness could also be a place where eerie and terrifying things happen as well. It is usually up to the individual to see if they want to deal with or wish to seek..Life may have a lesson to mix in the equation then darkness will take it to other places within the mind and soul.  Also do not always look at darkness as the simple opposite of light as in good vs evil because  if that was that was the case then some things on the side of light may be deceptive, blinding and evil ( i.e Lucifer which is an Angel of light) look at light and dark at it as a wonderful mixture or different shades that came from The Great Spirit.

      Yes, believe it or not The Great Spirit (whom some refer to as God) created the darkness and It is almost the same retailing in every religion. They mostly speak about the darkness being here before the light and as in Greek from of Paganism they will speak about a source being named Chaos which is the Mother of The God Erebus and the Goddess Nyx and soon came about the arrival of The light Aether and the Day Hemera.  In a more Pagan outlook we look at it as different shades among the light and dark and their are various gods and goddesses that may have different downward ways about them but yet in essence they are not altogether evil.  That is when you need to understand the shadow side of yourself and work with it. Basically we all need darkness in order to assist us in our journey of spiritual growth because it creates balance and unity, to some you will actually need a balance of grey in some instances because if you were filled with too much light you may think you will always have to be positive, optimistic, etc  but understanding the darkness you will understand it's ok to release those pessimistic or shadow hidden emotions before you may erupt like a volcano.  Once again its up to the person of how much he or she has or choose to incorporate within themselves or deal with.  Just remember certain great secrets are kept hidden and off reach in the dark .

     My personal belief is that whom you call God or whom I refer to as The Great Spirit wants us to know about both sides and know about how you can grow from it physically, mentally and spiritually.  Why not know about Angels and not know about Voodoo or  for instance? In other words you will be even more whole as a human being or any other intelligent life form for that matter. Sure there will be difficult times no matter what side of the spectrum you're on but knowing that you've encountered dark times or personally getting in tune with your shadow side will give you more wisdom throughout life. What bothers me is that some people are only in tune with the light side especially when it comes to matters of spirituality. Soon as I speak about spirituality to some people that haven't encountered or seen me they would think I'm speaking about Light workers or even worse...Church. When in actuality I'm speaking of the whole spiritual spectrum the dark side and the light For instance I had a friend a while back which spoke to me about various spiritual topics (from the light point of view may it be Angels, Third Eye, synchronicity and more) Though what was odd to me is when I was speaking to him about the time of 3:15 and sometimes the dread that number brings , not only did he have nothing to say or comment on but he told me he doesn't really check out that side of things.....😧 I'm thinking in my mind wouldn't you like to know if something around you could be going wrong or certain good signs showing up in a unconventional ways?  I was disappointed because it was made clear that he only dealt with one side and chose not to further his spiritual growth. It became clearer to me that I was even more open minded when it came to these type of things and I needed to be around more like minded individuals who share the same view. I don't care if it is my family or friends if they are not at my level then I shall not waste my time with them. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I'm better but what I am trying to say is that I am the rebel or the one they refer to in Numerology and the Occult as Thirteen. Ever since I was young while most went right I went left, others followed the heard and I was the wolf. I found beauty in things that were considered strange or weird, instead of playing joyous or lively notes on the keyboard I played the more down tempo, jazzy, mysterious sounding notes and even without my knowing something that other musicians call the devils chord (No, not in any relation to the devil but even what I created back then was very different than most mainstream or conventional forms of accepted music.)

These days I tend to put more emphasis on darkness because in this modern society we live in a world where people would usually have thoughts and images of cute little baby cherubs with white wings, masculine images with blond hair,  or either the New Age with it's space like and over love and light themes. Though what about the shadier side of spirituality? The side of the moon and the side some would call more feminine I suppose. The images I perceive are more monstrous similar to Gargoyles, Bats, Dog headed human hybrids, etc..This is the side you suppose to also have a very high respect for as well and not cast off as Halloweenish or evil images or beings. When you're entering the realm of the shadow certain things will become eve more clear to you contrary to popular belief. Some may say how can you see in darkness..? To some degree very good physically but to answer that question it's obvious my third Eye got me covered. I don't need the false light blind me upon my path of greatness. Though the light may be needed in some instances I don't need that false light that is preached in most Baptist Christian Churches or elsewhere, the light I receive will come from higher sources. Speaking of the Third eye and how that relates to darkness is very fascinating process and it shows that in the late hours of the night a certain hormone is released which is called Melatonin which is a super conductor of repairing and some would call it the Vampire drug or hormone. It is what you need to be more at ease during the night. Most importantly the third eye itself is activated by darkness and suppressed by light and it is what helps you interact with the world of the spirit, it is regarded as the gateway of the soul. Sure that would be good to also sungaze and give it a good recharge or more power but remember this eye that is physically located between both hemisphere of your brain needs the vital element of darkness to emit it's own light throughout the night. Seeds even need darkness to grow very similar to humans which can only be achieved properly throughout the time of darkness. Last but not least our universe is composed of a mass amount of dark matter and even more of a great abundance known as Dark Energy, so do take this into consideration whenever you may feel some type of way about the darkness. As a Goth and a Dark Gothic Pagan I take full pleasure in the darkness and I do realize my life's path more than others probably ever will. I have and will continue to be some sort of an ambassador for the darkside, may it be through the poetry or music I create as well and if you wish to partake in this epic journey then realize nothing is easy and the answers you may need will come to you in due time. Classic Black Horror Films

               Black History Month is ending but not first before I speak on some of the Black Horror Films. Last time my view were more focused on Black Vampires, those who are real within Vampire communities and those who are pretend or media imposed.  It's great to see Horror and the darkness extend to many different colors, cultures and races and if you ask me it's very healthy for you, as someone once said everyone should be entitled to one good scare.  Though it's Black History Month and my main focus is on Classic Black Horror Films. (Not more recent films such as Get Out which I have still yet to see but will see soon.
        I'm speaking about the more Classic Blacksplotation films of the 70's-80's such as the iconic Blacula, and the other lesser known ones such as Abby, and Blackenstein..Yes there is a film called Blackenstein and there are some more that I've recently came across such as Dr Black and Mr. Hyde. The first video I've posted called Werewolf in Harlem is a nice trailer but it isn't an actual movie so it seems-however it still would be nice if it was. I can't forget about the Howling Pt.2  Your Sister is a Werewolf and seeing a Black Female Werewolf being included in the movie for a more than just a few mins and being killed off. Although she wasn't the main character she was actually among the main characters which was great and not to forget the filmed also starred Christopher Lee.which is another great Horror Icon since the Hammer Horror days.  Some of the Classic Black Horror movies, mainly the trailers are somewhat comical and may not be that as serious as the well known Blacula, Blacula Scream Again and others that followed many years after. My Art and Lifestyle

       First and foremost I would like to warn others that this is a very personal post from me and relates to most of my nature and being, so with that said this post is rated G for Ghoulish! 

          For most of my young life I felt somewhat restricted and when I did or liked things that were different from others I was shunned. Every since my teenage years things started to change dramatically and that's when I started not to give a damn about anything. Those things that were suppose to serve me really didn't work for me as they did everyone else and even though I already knew it, it seem that it took others time to figure that out. Many tried to make me feel out of place and make me feel depressed because I am not like the rest but plain and simple I am a misfit and very proud of it!!  Especially when you see others that thought they were on the road to somewhere by following the next persons dream were actually falling in the same pit that other sheep were falling into. Instead I found another way which was through my art--Whether it was my poetry, drawings, or music. I truly found my niche in the world and I really connected to it also around the time I found a deeper spirituality.  My darkside was in full blossom and every since then my life was even more complete. 

        Some who may not know me may think other wise as if the clothing I wear is just for style or for show like some of the newer alternative people or some alternative Gothic models ...When actually this is who I am everyday, every night, 2/47, 365 etc. When I was younger, there were times in my life I was teased and much more for being different (especially being a black Goth) I grew up in a rough urban area which is Newark,NJ and there wasn't many of us around and it's still rare to find one. Though one day I do intend to go to QXT-(I will save that topic for another time)... Nowadays all of a sudden today seems to be different and somewhat of a trend especially if you were a female (Black Alternative-or seemingly Goth) (Some are not really into the Gothic subculture to me there are just scene, love the look but they are into an involved with the mainstream world, thoughts, and fads.  i.e). This is not a fetish or just a style for me, this is part of my soul and if it is weird or scary to others then I feel those others aren't ready for me and they are not on my path in life.  I am for the open minded and not for the timid or phony also I feel very connected towards the darkness and I live and breath it daily.  Very much like my music, poetry and other random decorations of mine I need to be surrounded by and create more on a constant basis. It is very fulfilling to my soul and contributes towards my very existence. 

             I am a natural rebel and I find it hard to fall in line to some traditional values as well. Who says that you're fun have to be limited over the age of 30 such, who says that you have to leave the house once you're 18, who says you must go to college etc, live life as a conservative, join the military, play basketball, the american dream etc...If that's you're idea or mentality then that's ok for you not me, --the world has enough of those IMO.. My mentality is Punk/Goth/Ghoulish and, I am the dark shadowy figure that walks through backstreets or cuts through the woods making my own path scorching everything in my way. Yes I am wild  at times and I  am a REBEL.  As a person who suffered from depression,   I have made a long and triumphing journey finding a deeper part of myself and exploring the boundless reaches of the world beyond. In return I have continued to spread my art abroad the world and online unto this very day, hoping to ascend to even higher planes and reach others who are free like minded souls and individuals who share the same taste as me.  So I will continue to further my pursuits and continue to create more dark art and for those who enjoy thank you very much and I do appreciate it ten fold. First Post of 2018

 Darkest Greetings Everyone! It is now the beginning of 2018 and now I have returned for my first post. I will be the first one to say 2017 was ok and even though it was a very productive year for me having my latest Synth album (Nightmare Mix Vol.1) and my short booklet (The Undead) to reach into the public...I am still just getting started on my career as a multi talented Artist! 2018 I look forward to creating more and perhaps meeting with more like minded souls upon this dark path. Lately I had more time to reflect upon past deeds and memories only to become more focused and more passionate in my spirituality and art. Revitalized and renewed..More to come very soon.
